Who is a Data Architect?

The core of every data strategy is a data architecture. It is the "how" of putting a data strategy into action.

The data engineer comes from a software engineering background and works with big data in data lakes, cloud platforms, and cloud data warehouses. Data engineering is the creation and maintenance of data frameworks.

The data scientist has a statistical background, and their job entails cleaning and analyzing data before using it to answer questions and offer metrics to address business problems.

The data architect is knowledgeable in both software engineering and statistics. Their duty will be to construct and display data frameworks, as well as to give information and help in dealing with divergent data sources from various databases.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Create and deploy efficient database systems and models for storing and retrieving corporate data.

  • By assessing client operations, applications, and programming, you may examine and determine database structure requirements.

  •  Examine database implementation methods to ensure that they are in accordance with internal and external requirements.

  • Install and arrange information systems to ensure the smooth operation of the business.

  • Create detailed database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.

  • Supervise the data migration from legacy systems to new solutions.

  • Perform frequent tests, troubleshooting, and incorporating new features to monitor system performance.

  • Make recommendations on ways to improve new and current database systems.

  • Staff personnel should be educated through training and individual support.

  • Respond to system faults in a timely manner to provide assistance.

Education and Experience:-

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related subject is required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable capacity is required.

Role Requirements:

  • Knowledge of database structure systems and data mining is required.

  • Outstanding organizational and analytical skills.

  • Excellent problem solver.

  • Excellent written and vocal communication abilities.

  • Should know the best practices in Data Architecture:-

    • When developing an efficient data architecture, you should adhere to the following best practices
    • Data should not be kept in separate silos: The purpose of developing a data architecture is to guarantee that datasets are stored in a centralized location. There should also be information exchange between these datasets.

    • Standardize the construction of data entities: When building data entities, adhere to the highest requirements. For relational datasets, for example, use restrictions such as primary keys and null allowances.

    • Entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) should be used: They aid in the creation and comprehension of data entity relationships. As a result, they should be a normal procedure for datasets in relational databases.

    • ERDs and data architecture should be updated: Update the current data architecture and ERDs as you develop data entities.

Salary Statistics:-
The salary of Data Architects ranges from 1.42 LPM to 1.47 LPM, with an average salary of 22 LPA. It's one of the best jobs for professionals who want to progress in their careers while also learning about Data handling. With enough experience and skills, you can rise to more lucrative roles such as Senior Data Architect and so on.
